Clients and their policies
Q-9For each client, which policies are they on, with which carrier, and in what role?
Owner on 9 policies, insured on 3, payor on 1.
Ask it
“On how many policies is a client the owner, the insured or the payor?”
Q-13Where did each client's record come from, and when did we first know it?
All from Sunbelt Senior's client file: clients first known on 2026-10-01 are on 8 policies in 11 roles; the client first known on 2026-10-02 on 1 policy in 1 role.
Ask it
“Where did each client's record come from, and when did we first know it?”

The measures
What each number means
Your Claude reads these meanings to understand what you ask; you never need their internal names.
Policies heldThe number of different insurance policies the clients in a group are on, in any role. Answers: on how many policies is a client the owner, the insured or the payor; how many policies came with the acquisition. One policy counts once in a group even when several clients, or one client in several roles, are on it, so totals across roles or across clients overlap; for the number of client and role pairings use Client policy roles.
Client policy rolesThe number of pairings of a client, a policy and the client's role on it (owner, insured or payor). Answers: how many roles clients have on policies, and where each client's record came from. Totals add up across roles and clients; for the number of different policies use Policies held.
Policies soldThe number of different policies for which a source names the agent who sold them. Answers: which agent sold each policy, and how many policies each agent sold. A policy two sources attribute to different agents counts once for each agent, so totals across agents overlap.
Agents namedThe number of different agents the sources name as the one who sold a policy. Answers: where the sources disagree about who sold a policy: for one policy, 1 means the sources agree and 2 or more means they disagree. One sale named policy NF-100005 without its carrier, so until the records are joined the vault keeps that policy twice, once with Northfield Life and once with an unknown carrier; counted by policy number it counts once.
Coverage, currentThe coverage carriers provide through us, as the face amount of each policy in US dollars, from each policy's current terms. Answers: how much coverage each carrier provides through us. Only Northfield Life sends face amounts today; a policy whose carrier sends no amount is left out, not counted as zero, so this is not the total coverage of every policy.
Face amount, by version of the termsThe face amount in US dollars that a carrier stated for a policy in one version of its terms. Answers: what the face amount was on a given date, and how it changed. Read it per policy and version: adding versions of one policy together double-counts it. For today's coverage use Coverage, current.
Versions of policy termsThe number of versions of a policy's terms the carrier has sent: the current one and each earlier one. Answers: what we knew about a policy on a given date, and what changed since. Each change in a carrier's terms, such as a status moving from in force to lapsed, adds a version.
Records not acceptedThe number of records that arrived in a form we do not accept, such as a date that is not a date, from each source. Answers: how many records arrive in a form we don't accept, from which source. A record that arrived without a client, policy, insured or agent number is not counted here; see Rows missing a business key.
Rows missing a business keyThe number of rows that arrived without a client, policy, insured or agent number. Such a row is kept and flagged, and counted once however many numbers it lacks. Answers, beside Records not accepted: how many rows arrived incomplete, from which source.
